Homeopathy is a system of medicine which involves treatment with what homeopaths call “remedies”. Made up of highly diluted plant, mineral, or animal substances (usually plant), these remedies trigger your body’s natural defense mechanisms and encourage healing. Homeopathy is based on the idea that “like cures like,” and has been around in its present form for more than 200 years. Because the substances are so highly diluted, they become non-toxic.
The idea that “like cures like” goes back to Hippocrates, but Homeopathy in its modern form was founded in the 19th century by Samuel Hahnemann, a German doctor who wanted an alternative to the brutal methods of healing which were popular at the time. Most of them involved bloodletting, the practice of draining a patient’s blood to “restore balance”, and which more often than not made the patient even sicker!
As a result, he developed Homeopathy. A much safer and gentler system of healing, homeopathy is suitable for anyone to use, including small children and even animals.
Homeopathic treatments can be a powerful method of healing for a wide range of ailments, and do not usually involve any side effects. If you are suffering from any sort of ailment, Homeopathy can offer some real solutions to improving your health.
